Windgate Curatorial Intern

Responsibilities
This 6-week internship will take place through July and August 2012. Interns will assist with research, planning, writing, editing, exhibition design, and installation of two upcoming exhibitions. Students will work with the curatorial staff and other departments to implement projects. Students will be expected to document their experience on Untitled, PNCA’s online magazine throughout the internship. Open to graduate students enrolled in art history, design, curatorial studies, or critical writing programs.

Qualifications
Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills including a facility to write clearly and concisely, awareness of email etiquette, experience with Microsoft Office, and confidence in scanning documentation and images. An ability to work independently but collaboratively is a must. Art history, museum studies coursework, and/or exhibition installation experience is a plus.

Hours
July-August
Approximately 40 hours a week (flexible scheduling can be accommodated)

Compensation
This is a paid internship – students will receive $5000 (minus FICA), paid through the Museum of Contemporary Craft.

Credit

Volunteer & Operations Coordination Intern

Responsibilities
The Volunteer Program at MoCC manages over 230 diverse volunteers. This internship offers the opportunity to research and apply best practice models for volunteer retention and training, in addition to gaining direct experience in web-based volunteer software commonly used at large to mid-size museums throughout the country. The operations portion will involve an ongoing archival project, as well as day-to-day administrative projects.
This internship offers hands-on practice regarding volunteer program administration and non-profit administration, within an innovative museum setting.

Qualifications
Enthusiasm and interest in working with people is a must. Museum studies or coursework in nonprofit/community development is desirable. Applicants should have volunteer experience and an ability to work independently and collaboratively. All applicants must include two writing samples along with an online application form (link below), cover letter and resume.

May 19th-September 4th
10–16 hours a week (flexible scheduling can be accommodated)
